This year Jamb question is particularly a live issue. All students have been waiting for future changes. And finally, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (Jamb) have recently updated guidelines for admission process. It was done through jamb website following numerous consultations with higher education institutions of Nigeria.
According to the jamb brochure, any candidate ought to have a provisional admission by Jamb, before she/he may be selected for screening. Therefore, everyone is waiting for Jamb website to be released soon.
If an applicant submits just one result containing his/her appropriate subjects, he/she will have ten points. In this case there could be such exams as GCE, WAEC or NECO. However, any applicant with two sittings will barely receive two points. In this case, the benefit will be on the side of applicants with only one result.
Moreover, applicants with better grades in O’level will as well have more odds to get an admission.
- A – Six marks;
- B – Four marks;
- C – Three marks.
What is more, during the admission process applicants` scores of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination will also play an important role.
- 180 – 200 (20 – 23 marks);
- 200 – 250 (24 – 33 marks);
- 251 – 300 (34 – 43 marks);
- 300 – 400 (44 – 60 marks).
According to jamb admission status, an applicant with 180 – 185 marks will receive twenty points. An applicant who has from 186 to 190 will receive twenty-one points. Jamb 2016 rules state that point system for straight entry will be launched rapidly. However, fees will still be charged for screening. This acute jamb issue will also depend on each definite school rules.

Jamb 2016 cut off marks
Jamb 2016 cut off mark will be launched this year by schools. From now it will be points, not marks any longer. For example. In case, a school announces a cut-off mark for Chemistry as ninety points, and JAMB allows an applicant with two hundred and fifty provisional admission but his/her entirety points falls little of ninety points, then such a candidate will definitely be unable to find the admission.
For the time being, the federal government restated its aspiration to ban permanently Post-UTME. Such an initiative was released by Nigeria’s education minister Mallam Adamu.
He proved that the forbiddance would start immediately.
