Honey can be useful not only for your immune system but also for skin and body.
Despite the fact that in our time store shelves are full of different sorts of goods it is difficult to find natural and harmless to health products – not a simple matter. The same situation is with honey. It takes a large number of fairs and exhibitions of honey, a lot of options are presented in the shops under the name "honey". This product is not a deficit, but to find the real honey is not easy. Honey - one of the most frequently counterfeited products.
In this article we will try to understand the key points about honey, how can you choose the real honey, and get benefits from using honey in everyday life.
What is the natural honey?
This is the nectar collected by bees from the flower and plants and recycled in honey. Bees at the same time should not be fed with sugar syrup. The participation of the food industry is excluded. Currently, you can buy the product under the name "honey", which never was touched by the bees that is produced with the help of modern science. The case is troublesome and the result of production can be predicted, do not wait for the healing properties of this "honey". Taste it is much inferior to the natural honey. If the "surrogate" is sold in the store, in small letters, you can read it on the back of the bank - the sugar and other ingredients.
Beekeeping is not a simple matter. In order to get the honey, it is not enough to build hives andto purchasebee colonies. The amount of honey yield is influenced by various factors, including the weather - rainy, too windy, arid prevents beekeeping; the presence of melliferous plants in the range wich is supposed to be accessible to the bees; the health of bee colonies and many others.
In the lean years the collected honey is hardly enough for bee families to feed themselves during the winter. Only the tireless efforts and experience of beekeepers give rise to a quality product. Because of these difficult conditions, many beekeepers are tempted to use various manipulations, few of them recalls the law of cause and effect.
Honey is famous since ancient times for its beneficial properties, it is considered a means for attaining longevity and old age painless. Here are just some of the beneficial properties of honey:
1. Vitamins and minerals that are included in its composition help to maintain health
2. Has a bactericidal effect
3. Normalizes activity of the gastrointestinal tract
4. Accelerate tissue regeneration
5. It tones the body
6. It stimulates the function of internal organs
The color of honey varies from nearly colorless to dark brown depending on the type of plants. The darker the honey, the more minerals and other substances it contains.
Due to the content of essential oils in the nectar collected from flowers, honey, under normal conditions, has a flavor that is also different depending on the species. At the same time the southern varieties of honey have a more noticeable scent in comparison with the North. In cold honey smells weaker, as the evaporation of essential oils is slower.
Up to 80% of the volume of honey falls into simple sugars - glucose and fructose (in about equal proportions), and the rest - it is water, minerals, enzymes, amino acids. Due to the fact that the sugars are found in honey in a simple form, they are readily absorbed by the body, ready to assimilate, which runs at 100%. On the absorption of honey our body does not expend energy (if it is used within reasonable limits), what doesn’t happen when the consumption of ordinary sugar.
Honey can be in different states - liquid, thick, candied, homogeneous. A large number of varieties of honey gradually changes color and consistency in storage. This process is called crystallization, which does not affect the beneficial properties of honey, despite the change in shape. Crystallization - the formation of glucose crystals. Fructose in turn does not crystallize. The more glucose in honey, the faster the crystallization. For example, sunflower honey begins to crystallize almost immediately after collection, and acacia honey can remain liquid until the spring. If less glucose in honey, it crystallizes slowly or did not crystallize. Also in this case, there is a possibility for disintegration of honey - crystal-weight goes down, liquid risesto the top.
Varieties of honey, in which the crystallization is faster - sunflower, rapeseed, yellow sow thistle, honey collected from cruciferous.Slower - willow, black locust. The percentage of glucose / fructose depends not only on the type of plant, but also on the geography of its growth. In colder areas the glucose in plants is produced less than in the southern. This leads to the fact that the northern varieties of honey crystallize slowly.
The more fructose in honey, the sweeter it is (since fructose is 2.5 times sweeter than glucose). Artificial honey does not crystallize, so that crystallisation process is positive.
Because of fructose molecule is more light, it tends upwards. Therefore, the storage of honey, it may be a bundle, but it happens quite slowly due to its high density. Above room temperature speeds up this process. This separation may suggest about the poor quality of honey, but in fact the properties of honey does not affect.
Honey, the bulk of which (40%) was obtained from a single plant species, called monoflerny. Poliflerny honey - collected from different plants. Do not buy honey collected in polluted areas, in places that are within walking distance from the chemical industry, power plants, large airfields. Toxic substances are concentrated in honey.
The surest way to buy high-quality natural honey - get it from good friends that do not put at the heart of enrichment and seek to share with people a quality product. But unfortunately, the opportunity to purchase honey from friends and trusted people is not for everybody.
A good way to check the quality of honey - a laboratory, but for such a study would have to pay, and each jar to check in this way does not make sense. For example, only in the laboratory you can determine the inappropriate honey quality.
