What are the symptoms of ear infection?

The human ear is a complex organ which is responsible for the perception, comprehension of sound and of balance (because the human ear is the vestibular apparatus).

Therefore, some diseases of the ear lead to disorientation, disturbance of motor function.

The ear is a complex structure which is consisted of the external auditory canal and auricle.

A hearing aid includes an internal and middle ear. The function of the middle and external ear is to collect and conduct the sounds.

The inner ear has two types of receptors, responsible for the orientation in the space and sound perception.

Nowadays, there are a multitude of ear diseases, and unfortunately they are very common and varied.

The medical specialists distinguish:

  1. non-inflammatory;
  2.  inflammatory;
  3. fungal diseases of the ear;
  4. traumatic illnesses (they usually have sportsmen).

1. Non-inflammatory diseases

Non-inflammatory illnesses of hearing aid are quite common, which is accompanied by unpleasant symptoms and sensations. There are some reasons which occurs non-inflammatory diseases of the ears: Meniere's Disease, which affects the inner ear. The main symptoms of this disease are: the nausea and vomiting, bouts of dizziness and tinnitus. For this disease is characteristically an increase of volume of fluid in the inner ear. The accumulation of fluid puts pressure on the cells that control vestibular processes. These symptoms of the ears can be eliminated, but the complication such as progressive hearing loss is inevitable to eliminate.

Atherosclerosis is a genetic disease that affects the bone of the ear capsule. This disease can become a provocateur of hearing loss.

Neuritis is also fairly common disease of the ears. This disease leads to permanent hearing loss. This symptom is considered to be one of the most dangerous.

With regard to the treatment of diseases of the non-inflammatory diseases, it can be realized thanks to modern techniques and technologies with the help of ultrasound, laser, endoscopy, radio-wave and cryosurgery. The modern medicine helps even to those patients, who were completely deaf at the time of the disease.

2. Inflammatory diseases of the hearing aid

Inflammatory processes, such as otosclerosis, otitis and labyrinthitis are the most frequent causes of diseases of the ears. The diseases of the ear are often the consequences of viral infectious.

Otitis is the most common inflammatory disease of the ear. This disease can manifest itself in the form of a furuncle (an abscess in a specific area of the body) and can involve the entire hearing aid in the pathological process. Otitis can be acute or chronic. If the treatment of diseases of the ears is started promptly, the inflammatory process will be eliminated pretty quickly. In such a situation the otitis can not become chronic. But if patients self-medicate, the disease can bring serious complications, treatment which is delayed. In such cases the disease of the ears often becomes chronic.

Itching and pain in the ear canal are the first symptoms of inflammatory diseases. At times, the disease is accompanied by hearing loss. This serious inflammatory disease processes redness and suppuration of the ear.

The inflammation of the middle ear has such clinical symptoms as high temperature and hearing impairment. In addition, patients have strong shooting pain in the ears.

If the patient has purulent otitis, he may receive another unpleasant symptom of disease – purulent-spotting. Don’t ignore the treatment of this disease, because it can provoke a chronic form of the disease and damage to the tympanic membrane.

There are the symptoms of diseases of the ear, when in the pathological process involves the inner ear: patients cannot fix the gaze at one place, rapid hearing loss and dizziness.

Otitis of external ear very often goes to the inflammation of the middle ear. Also, it is possible the development of labyrinthitis (typically, when patient delays the treatment of diseases of the ears). In especially grave cases, the inflammatory process in the ear can lead to meningitis, brain abscess and blood poisoning.

With regard to acute otitis, it appears as a result of ingress of harmful germs into the middle ear from the nose. If the treatment of this disease is not correctly, then there is a risk of paralysis of the facial nerve and the deafness.

It is strictly prohibited to self-medicate if you have the first symptoms of inflammatory diseases of the ear. You should immediately consult with your otolaryngologist who will be able to diagnose, determine the stage of the disease and prescribe adequate treatment.

3. Fungal diseases

Diseases of the ear can also be caused by fungal infections. The causative agent of most fungal diseases of the ears is a conditional-pathogenic fungus. Such diseases are grave enough and can cause the appearance of sepsis. The otomycosis usually develop as a result of trauma and after surgery.

Fungal diseases of the ear are accompanied by the following clinical signs: constant itching, noise, discharge and discomfort in the affected ear. Depending on the type of fungus, the pathogen and the affected organ, the disease will have different symptoms and intensity. The fungus can infect both the external and middle and inner ear.

With regard to chronic fungal illnesses, they require a long-term treatment. The fungal diseases of the ear very often occur due to weak immunity, various chronic diseases and metabolic disorders. From the fungal infections can suffer people who have sugar diabetes. Therefore, before the treatment of the diseases of the ears doctor determines the main cause of this pathology, due to develop the correct tactics of treatment.

It’s impossible to diagnose the fungal diseases of the ear without visiting doctors. So, when the patient has first symptoms of any pathological process associated with the ear, he must immediately contact with a professional otolaryngologist to diagnose and prescribe effective treatment.

4. Traumatic disorders

Traumatic illness constitute from 35 to 70% of all traumatic injuries.

To the traumatic disorders we will include: damage of the auricle with bruises, bites; foreign bodies in the ear canal, etc.

Depending on the type of injury the patient may have a variety of symptoms: the hearing loss; bleeding from the ear, disorder of vestibular function; damage to the facial nerve.

The treatment of injuries of the hearing depends on the causes of the problem and of course you should go to a specialist.

A condition that occurs from ignoring the pathological symptoms of the ears, can affect the health of a person, his normal way of life and unfortunately he or she can dead.

The preventive measures

The prevention of diseases of the ears (especially inflammatory diseases), is a careful hygiene of the ear and personal hygiene, proper and early treatment of diseases of other organs (especially, nose, throat, sinuses), “fighting” against chronic infections and hypertrophy of the turbinates, and in the tempering of the body.

As you see, these dangerous diseases can provoke complications.

So we just remind you: if you notice any of the symptoms associated with your hearing aid, you should immediately and without hesitation contact your doctor, in order to prevent serious complications (meningitis, sepsis of the brain, deafness, etc.), which can lead to unexpected results.

I just wish you to be healthy and not to deal with these dangerous diseases!
