Nowadays the Burj Khalifa is the extraordinary attraction of Dubai and it is appreciated all around the world.

The skyscraper has a height of 828 meters and more than 160 floors.

Today the tallest building in the world consists of 9 gorgeous hotels and a fountain system, which is similar to the facilities of Las Vegas. The construction of the skyscraper cost about $4 billion. The author of this project is an American architect Adrian Smith, who has created a lot of other tall buildings.

The skyscraper’s construction started in 2004, and further work continued at a rate of one or two floors per week.The opening of the Burj Khalifa took place on 4 January 2010 and it’s still the tallest building in the world in 2016.

The lower 37 floors are occupied by the hotel. 700 luxury apartments are located on the floors from 45 to 108. The great amount of rooms was built specially for offices.

The building is famous for its wonderful platform where you can enjoy a great view and a unique lobby (123d and 124th floors). In addition, there is a very tall tower, which rises above the main building. It is equipped with very powerful telecommunication services and appliances.

In order for the building to stand solid on the foundation, there was a special sort of concrete developed. It is able to withstand the temperatures up to + 50 degrees Celsius. It was being added only during the night. They also had to add ice water to it.

There are about 65 double-deck elevators installed in the building.

The elevators inside the skyscraper currently have the highest speed worldwide. They are able to increase their speed to 18 meters per second.

The Burj Khalifa was also designed as the safe building. Thanks to the unique fire system it will be possible to evacuate all visitors over 32 minutes in case something goes wrong.


The tower has been designed the way so that it can independently generate electricity for itself using a 60 meter turbine which is rotated by wind and solar panels.

The building has a special protection from the sun and reflecting glass panels, which are able to reduce the heat in all the rooms. Such a complex system reduces the need for the daily conditioning.

There is a convection system made for this purpose. They also use only the seawater and the cooling modules which are located underground .Therefore, the temperature in the high-rise is not more than 18 degrees Celsius.

There is a viewing platform which is called «At the Top». You can find it on the 124th floor of the building. Almost all the surface of the observation deck is completely glazed. There are modern electronic telescopes to entertain the tourists. In addition, you can also see the historical records of the day and night panoramas.

The tallest skyscraper in the world - "Burj Khalifa" - was designed as a "city within a city." Therefore, it has its own lawns, boulevards and parks. It is a truly unique and memorable piece of architecture.
