First political parties were formed in Nigeria in 1960, when it has become independent. Presently Nigeria is a multi-party country. Initially it had only 5-8 parties, but today there are over 30 of them. Action Group (AG), Nigerian National Democratic Party and Democratic Party of Nigeria were amongst the first ones formed in the state.
Muhammadu Buhari (current Nigerian president) was moved to elections by All Progressive Congress. Before the elections the ruling party in Nigeria was the PDP – People’s Democratic Party.
