Abuja declared that not less than 8000 members of Boko Haram militants have receded and recognized the defeat. They have been surrounded during operation ‘Safe Corridor’. Addressing mass media in thematic lecture, the Director of Defense Information, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar has declared that Boko Haram surrended participants were on camp in the state of Gomb waiting to be deradicalized by armed forces. The general has added that armed forces would begin operation ‘Safe Corridor’ soon to prevent threat of shepherds of Fulani over all the country. However, there is no guarantee that military operation would make the end to extravagant murders made by shepherds. Answering questions of recent actions of armed forces, the general has convinced mass media not to allow feelings to influence the judgment on problem.

‘Armed forces need to do their work’ – he said. I assure you that no member of mass media would fall a victim without any reason. Abubakar said good relations of military mass media were extremely important for victory in war against mutiny. He has specified that mass media can stimulate public support for armed forces, which in turn would increase morals of officials and rank-and-file officers.

In reply, the secretary of NUJ in FCT, Hajia Rafat, said that there was a need for armed forces and mass media to cooperate in fight against terrorism and other crimes. ‘Armed forces have to consider mass media as partner and not as enemy’ – she said.
