Who created money

That’s a very interesting questions. Some people love money and even worship it. They perform various money rituals. Others hate it and deem it to be ungodly. What’s the truth?

Who created money?

It really depends on what you mean by saying “money”. First of all let’s understand: money is an idea! The paper with printed symbols on it we use to buy things or to sell our work for is worth nothing. It’s just paper. But the idea behind it is powerful. Various countries print their own money and attach value to it. They compare their money and that’s how we get the exchange rate.

For instance, we value dollars more than naira. Why? It’s all in our heads. In reality both of them is just paper. But where does this idea come from; the idea of some things being more valuable than others?

Well, in the book of Genesis we read this:

And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone." (Genesis 2:12)

God was the first one to create gold and add certain value to it. And the gold there was GOOD! Bible never condemns money or riches, but it does condemn the attitude people have towards it.

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (1 Timothy 6:10)

The love of money is evil, but not the money itself. God has never introduced any evil idea to people. He was the one to create gold and attach value to it, but He never meant us to love gold or money. We are to love our Lord God with all our hearts, mind and strength and our neighbors as ourselves. So, yes God stands behind the concept of money, but not the evil it has become.

How do you tell you have the love of money?

It’s simple. Run a little test on yourself. Try to give and figure out what you feel doing it. Jesus said:

“Give and it shall be given unto you!”
love of money

So, when we give, we should feel joy! We can meet the needs of other people. We can give God and invest into His projects and ministry. We can become a real blessing to others and thus fulfill the commandment to love others.

We were trained by the world to love money and value it too much. By giving regularly you can train yourself out of being greedy and loving money and teach yourself to love God and people!
